The Air Force Museum Foundation, a philanthropic, 501(c)(3) organization whose sole purpose is to support the National Museum of the United States Air ForceTM (NMUSAF) (the largest military aviation museum in the world), is seeking a passionate, inspired, and seasoned Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead our expanding Development program. Since 1960, we have raised 94% of the dollars required to build the main facility of the National Museum of the United States Air Force (~1 million square feet of indoor gallery space).

As a key member of the senior leadership team and under the direction of the Executive Director, the CDO will oversee the implementation and management of a comprehensive fundraising plan. This development plan supports the strategic long-range plan by increasing revenues via annual appeals, special projects funding, direct mail, capital funding initiatives, grants, membership programs, major gifts, and a planned giving program.

The incoming CDO could not be joining the organization at a more exciting time for fundraising. First, we have recently opened the new 4th Building, and the needs for expanded STEM educational and other program support have never been more critical.  Secondly, there are several exciting exhibit openings/events in the near future which will generate worldwide interest and need support. Finally, the new CDO will benefit from a recently completed development assessment that resulted in a brand new structure for the department, including the benefit of adding three new full-time positions. This will allow the ideal candidate to partner with existing staff to build a talented, high-performing team inclusive of dedicated major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, and membership professionals.
