LIU seeks a candidate with two to four years of experience for the new position of Associate Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations. During an exciting time of change, expansion, and revitalization, this position will report to the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations and work collaboratively to source foundation and corporate prospects, manage and develop the pipeline, and, as appropriate, solicit gifts directly and with colleagues.

LIU is embarking on new philanthropic efforts to dramatically enhance its scholarship support program, build new spaces (state-of-art laboratories, hi-tech classrooms, etc.) and advance other important university priority areas. Within that framework, LIU seeks to continue to build upon its fundraising success and grow it. This position is a critical support for building and growing a foundation and corporate funding pipeline.

POSITION SUMMARY

The professional in this position reports directly to the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations. The position requires experience, sensitivity, and diplomacy in representing LIU, as well as strategic skills to assist with the continued expansion of the University's growing foundation and corporate fundraising program. The ideal candidate will establish trust and bring an entrepreneurial attitude to the role, along with creativity and initiative to help a growing foundation and corporate relations program at LIU.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• In collaboration with the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations, the Associate Director will be responsible for the management of the foundation and corporate prospect pipeline through consistent research and evaluation of giving capacity and trends for current and prospective foundation and corporate funders;
• With an emphasis on corporate sponsorship opportunities, the Associate Director will identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects in an assigned portfolio with giving potential between $5,000 and $99,000;
• Will work with Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations and other staff members to assist, as needed, with the development of proposals, attachments, and detailed funder reports;
• Will prepare monthly and quarterly progress report on foundation and corporate fundraising activities;
• Will occasionally, and as needed, represent LIU at off-site funder meetings; and
• Will be responsible for assisting the entire advancement department to reach financial goals.


QUALIFICATIONS

• Four-year college degree required, advanced degree preferred
•Two to four years of experience with front-line foundation fundraising and grant writing
• Proven ability to meet goals with independent or collaborative experience in securing grants
• Outstanding communications skills, verbal and written
• Able to interact effectively with a broad range of constituents, including donors, Deans, faculty members, and others
• Ability to take information from many sources and distill it to core messages that are communicated to different audiences
• Knows how to navigate a complex institution to make the best match for donor interests
• Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and innovation
• Proven ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments
• Passion and energy for contributing to the growth of LIU
